PlusSpec allows you to create custom wall build-ups with different Materials. However, you can often simplify these complex wall build-ups by using the Solid wall Tool. This captures only the thickness of the entire wall build up (and has the benefit of keeping your models lighter and manageable).
Wouldn't this affect my Take-off/estimate?
If you have shown a complex wall build-up with the Solid Wall Tool, but you are wanting to quantify/estimate this wall type, you can manually allow for the price of all of the materials in your take-off/estimate.
Level of Detail: But, I want EVERY Layer visible!
Although the standard wall types in PlusSpec are already at a high Level of Detail, they have still been simplified to maximize your model speed, etc.
LOD (Level of Detail) is very important to understand. What is the real benefit of modeling every layer? This level of detail is best captured in a 2D or 3D detail - not in every wall in the entire model.
If you are documenting your plan in 2D, you would show the wall type with a Wall Legend, or as a Wall Detail which actually shows all of the wall layers. At this stage, we do not recommend you to try and capture this level of detail in your entire 3D model. Doing this may also slow down your navigation and use of your model due to information-overload.
For more information about Level of Detail, see our Blog article on this topic.
I hear you, but I still want to show ALL Layers!
Due to popular request, we can confirm that this development is in our 2018 pipeline.
