Question:
I have content from somewhere other than PlusSpec. How can I assign it to my PlusSpec Model to design/estimate with?
Answer:
If you download SketchUp content from any 3D library on the net and it has parametric properties, you will be able to access the parametric properties with PlusSpec. If it is just plain geometry, you will be able to use the SketchUp tools to modify it as required. You can then use the PlusSpec BIM tool to make it intelligent. See below for more information about the BIM tool.
If you import Revit, ArchiCAD (or other) formats, cross-platform imports lose all parametric ability. This means that if you want to work between platforms, smart objects lose their intelligence. However, the geometry remains intact.
However, this is the power of SketchUp though, as you will be able to easily modify the imported geometry by pushing and pulling, or modifying it as needed. It's super easy! And with PlusSpec, you will be able to use the BIM tool to add all of the required information (BIM), so that it will be in your BOM/Takeoff, or Product Schedule.
