There are a couple of reasons why you may not be able to open a file you’ve exported from the takeoff, but the main reason we’ve found is that filename extensions aren’t enabled on your device. This causes the extension type (e.g. .csv) to be missing from the filename when saving the exported file, which then causes the file to not save as the intended file type or be able to be opened/viewed.
Below are the steps to enable the filename extensions for your specific device. IMPORTANT: You will need to export the file again for the change to work.
Windows 11
- Open a File Explorer by either:
- Clicking on the folder icon in the taskbar.
- Typing file explorer in the taskbar searchbox, then selecting File Explorer.
- In File Explorer, select View > Show > File name extensions.
Windows 10
- Open a File Explorer by either:
- Clicking on the folder icon in the taskbar.
- Typing file explorer in the taskbar searchbox, then selecting File Explorer.
- In File Explorer under the View tab, in the Show/hide group, select the File name extensions check box
Mac
- In the Finder on your Mac, choose Finder > Settings from the menu bar at the top of your screen.
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Select the Show all filename extensions check box.
